Why companies are going wrong

-Compliance gets people promoted, not brilliance

-We prefer to work around people most like ourselves

-Recruitment is about finding the most defendable choice of candidate, not the one most likely to be the very best

-Debate is seen as argument, not the route to progress

-Risk is considered reckless, not essential

-People are expected to fit into roles, not have roles expand around people

-We think we need data to find ideas, insights, when at best we need it to support them

-It's far easier to be fired for caring too much, than caring too little

-We think working hard is about hours, not intensity

-We devalue thinking and overvalue things that "look" like progress

-We add technology to our companies, not rethink and rebuild them around it
